Gray skies and rain in the morning gave way to sun and brisk winds (gale force by evening!) in the early afternoon. On our way from San Diego to Anza Borrego SP we paused at Carlsbad Beach (southern California) and watched a man kite surfing, or kite boarding, and watched him being watched. At least one of the most interested spectators seemed to be his son.
