The kind of work depicted here is any three dimensional art form, not of the mass produced variety. The work can be either indoors or outside, and of any size. The work itself can be permanent, semi-permanent, or ephemeral; it can be permanently installed at a location, or merely on loan. Where known, the artist will be attributed, and any other interesting information supplied about location, history, etc.

I have reorganized this gallery by assigning each work a short name, and each shot of that work an index number. These appear at the beginning of each caption, and the gallery is sorted alphabetically by caption, i.e. sorted by the name assigned each sculpture. This means that new uploads no longer appear at the beginning of the gallery, but it also means that all shots of a given work will be grouped together, regardless of when taken, and when uploaded. In cases where there are two or more works by the same artist, the titles begin with the artist's last name, followed by the title of the work.

If you love sculpture, or even just like it, check out the other galleries in my 'Art' category. Most of them deal with sculpture - either single works, special exhibitions, particular venues, etc. This is a gallery for an olio of art works from a variety of locations, for which I have only a few shots.

If you know additional pertinent info, feel free to supply it for the benefit of other viewers.

Enjoy.

Rampant Unicorn by Berthold "Tex" Schiwetz

Valence 01

Wire sculpture standing just off a stretch of river bank that is popular with local fishermen. The work is a bronze sculpture by William Dennisuk. It remained in place for only a few months, as was planned from the beginning of the project which placed two other similar sculptures at other sites in Ann Arbor.
Valence 02

The temporary (several months) bronze sculpture by William Dennisuk titled 'Valence'. Part 2 of three installations in water settings in Ann Arbor. This is in the Huron River at Gallup Park. Part 1 is in a reflecting pool on the north campus of the University of Michigan, and Part 3 is in the Huron River at Nichols Arboretum.

Fisherman on the banks of the Huron River, largely ignoring the recently installed wire sculpture.
Watching 01

Watching for the Wind, by Roy Wilson (1989); a three piece work, only two of which are shown here.
These sculptures were taken in for the winter after this shot was taken, and weren't put back out the following year. Either they've been moved to another venue, or they're being kept in storage or are being restored, or who knows what.

What seems to be a companion piece, Yellow Sails, probably by the same artist, can be seen in a photo here: http://smu.gs/QDQX6r. This other work is not currently being displayed, either.
