I have decided to collect here some of my pictures that some idiot has decided to repeatedly red thumb without having the courtesy or the guts to explain in just what way he/she finds them offensive (or finds me offensive). None of them would have drawn this jerk's wrath if others hadn't liked them and commented on them in the first place. There probably are others that I'm not aware of. Life is too short for me to waste my time trying to pin them all down.

Considering how many other fine photographers on smugmug has been subjected to such childish (to put it mildly and kindly) behavior, perhaps I should consider this a badge of honor that someone feels threatened by seeing some of my photos be appreciated by others.

Enjoy!
(FYI, anyone who wants to speak to me 'off the record' can reach me at 2lightmyway@gmail.com.)

D128-2012 Wild Geranium (Geranium maculatum)
May is Lupus Awareness Month; May 10, 2012, was World Lupus Day for this year. Purple is the accepted color for awareness of this potentially crippling inflammatory auto-immune disease. Thanks to smugmugger(s) 'sisterhoodofthebras' and 'IndigoStudios' for pushing for today's (May 18) public awareness on smugmug.

The whole point of 'showing' purple in connection with the lupus is to increase awareness of the existence of the disease, its serious nature and widespread presence in the population, and the need for research into treatment and potential cures for it. To that end, I looked up online some information about lupus. I will merely share one sobering fact, among many, that came out of that search for information. Doctors are as much in need of education about recognizing the symptoms of the various forms of the disease and correctly distinguishing it from other conditions that share some of the symptoms with lupus as is the general public. Proper treatment requires proper diagnosis. It would seem that we're still pretty much in the dark where this disease is concerned.

To my astonishment, this has been thumbed out of sight, despite the message it contains. Go figure.

Even when the showy cream-colored bracts are wide open, the actual flowers may not even have begun to bloom. In this case a single one of the four-petaled yellow flowers was open, and all the rest were still in bud.

Amaryllis buds, like candle flames.
(Or, as Linda says, like a woman's hands, which is a simile that appeals to me. Thanks, Linda.)

Looking straight down, the only evidence of a thin layer of ice on top of the water behind the breakwater is the shadow it casts on the underlying wood plank walk. This section of ice was characterized by strange round or polygonal areas embedded in the smoother matrix.
