This is a collection of some of my favorite shots of tropical plants from various conservatories. Photos of the growing number of temperate zone plants I've taken will, for now, go into this gallery as well. Look for the companion "Hot Shots #1" gallery to this one http://arctangent.smugmug.com/ConservatoryPlants/Conservatory-Arid). Just for fun, I've decided to map tag the parts of the world where various plants are native, rather than locations of the individuals I photographed. In the case of orchids, many of which are created (non-wild) hybrids, I've tagged some for the general location in the wild of one of the genus's used in the hybridization.
This is now a 'sampler gallery', with many of the images collected from galleries in my 'Cyber Conservatory' (Nature Category - http://arctangent.smugmug.com/Nature/Cyber-conservatory-plants), so I have decided to sort it in reverse order of upload, rather than by caption. These are some of my favorite photos of tropical and temperate plants, and are selected more for visual impact than for identification purposes. Other galleries in the Conservatory - Tropical and Temperate sub-category ( ) emphasize plant identification and properties in their photo captions.
As with most plants, amazing details are revealed when you look closely. I hope you'll take the time to view at least some of these images in their larger sizes, or download them and view them with "zoomable" viewing software. Above all, enjoy!
