One of my favorite places to photograph the play of light on moving water is at the Geddes Dam on the Huron River, and under the Dixboro Road bridge which crosses the river just downstream of the dam. All of the structures, as well as the vegetation, provide subjects for 'fractured' reflections. Especially in late afternoon there are opportunities for geometric abstracts involving light and shadows. Along the banks a number of rocks, partially submerged, offer shots of water foaming around them and pouring over them. The tailraces of the dam give views of surging, roiling water, and of collected debris, depending on whether water is flowing. The water that emerges from the tailraces often contain rafts of bubbles that are interesting in themselves, or can decorate the various reflections.

If certain images, looking just at the thumbnails, seem to be duplicated, please open them up. One will be an 'original'. The other(s) will have been treated with various filters or other special effects.

I decided to upload and collect (older images) all such pictures to a single gallery, to give me and other viewers a better sense of the place, and the inspiration it gives me as a photographer. I have also created a "Geddes Bridge..." gallery in "Places - Near/ Ann Arbor area parks" for scenes of this area along the river ( http://arctangent.smugmug.com/Places-Near/Ann-Arbor-area-parks/Geddes-Dam-Gallup-Parker-Mill/19450863_PFZNQp )

The flaming sugar maple that sits atop the dam reflected in the river. Most of the filigree of fine dark lines comes from reflections of the guard rails in the river.

I cranked up the saturation for this shot just to make the color of the reflected maple leaves really pop.

Fancifully, this could be an aerial shot of some coastline, with small low clouds.

Reflections of two bridge columns. On the left, a reflection of the nearer column falling on sunlit water; on the right a reflection of the further column falling into (or more correctly, rising up from) the shade under the bridge.
