This gallery is for pictures taken along a short stretch of the Huron River, from just above the Geddes Dam to the footbridge over the river a little below the dam. Two parking lots give access to this area on either side of Old Dixboro Road on the south bank of the river. The area is a link between Gallup Park (upstream, south bank only at this point) and Parker Mill County Park (downstream, north bank). For reasons which I hope will be clear to the viewer, I take a lot of pictures here. I decided to give the area its own gallery.
One type of picture I especially love to take at this locale is close-ups of reflections of the variety of structures (dams, bridges, railings, trees) and of shallow water flowing over stones at the river's edge. These will appear either in some of my Nature/Water galleries or in their own separate gallery (

A sugar maple on the small island between headraces on the dam.
(For a graphic illustration of how much advanced in the calendar the fall color is in 2012, compare this with similar shots taken in 2011 and 2009.)
