Sidecut Metro Park lies along the north bank of the Maumee River, just east of highway US 23, at its intersection with highway US 24. Its name refers to 19th century canals along the river at this point. Islands in the Maumee River at this point, with restricted access, make the area a great place for bird watching.

Secor Park lies beyond the western suburbs of Toledo, in an area that once was part of the great Black Swamp. Remnants of the swamp are preserved here in the wooded portion of the park.
