It seems to me that no other architectural features carry such a freight of emotional associations, recollections, recognitions as windows, doors, gateways, portals of all kinds. They mark literal or figurative boundaries. They can fill us with dread, bemuse us with nostalgia, or lift us up with hope and gladness. They spark our creativity and ingenuity, and allow us to express our individuality when they are ours to design and adorn. They control to some extent the light that fills a space, and thus how we experience the space. They speak to us in so many ways.

Outside In
A double reflection: The sculpture 'Begob' reflected in a window of a wall at right angles to this door, then reflected in the door.
Looking in through the doors at the east entrance of the Robert H. Lurie Engineering Center
FYI, I didn't do anything to shift the color of the door frame. The purple you see is, I suppose, a combination of the actual patina or paint on the metal and the color temperature of the shadows that were falling upon it.

This shows a reflection of the upper part of the Lurie Bell Tower in the west-facing windows of a tower-like feature of the Lurie Engineering Center.

Illusion
One of a pair of images, (1) this one which is a reflection of the Sexton's House in the shed window, and (2) a partner image which was taken mere seconds later of the Sexton's House directly. I'm afraid I didn't get them lined up as well as I would have liked. Maybe I'll go back and try it again sometime.

MEN
I think I now know one of the uses to which this building was once put.

Internal framing...cheating by using the window sash as the literal frame for a reflected image.

Window of the old brick maintenance building; reflection of the south end of the Sexton's House.

The first of two filtered versions of this scene. The differences are only apparent when viewed in the larger sizes.

A layer with successive filters applied: first Watercolor, then Palette Knife. The opacity of the layer then reduced.
