D143-2012 Peonies
The proportions between reproductive parts (stamens and carpels (or pistils)) and petals varies widely among the peony varieties. For the cultivar in the foreground, the yellow stamens virtually dominate the blossom. Immediately behind is a variety with a relatively subdued 'boss' of stamens.

D115-2009 Bloodroot
Sparkle plenty.

This blossom shows the anthers shriveling and the ovary already more prominent than in blossoms that have just opened. Pollen speckles the petals.

Pollen everywhere.

The anthers of this flower have dropped quantities of pollen onto the upcurved petals. There is enough of a breeze in the conservatory that some of the pollen has ended up fairly high up inside the blossom.
