arctangent > I'm not sure what this shrub is. The leaves resemble euonymus, but I've never before seen one with purple autumn foliage. Any ideas?

arctangent > Fruit on the limb of a female ginkgo.

From what I've read, bruised or rotting ginkgo fruit smells nasty. Most people prefer to plant only male ginkgo trees for that reason. The fruit, and/or the nuts are edible if properly treated. I thought they looked lovely while still on the tree. None had fallen, to be stepped on, or to rot, so there was no onerous odor when I saw this tree.
arctangent > Railroad trestle at Grand Rapids, Ohio. Seen from the right (south) bank. (My viewpoint is map tagged.)
arctangent > Maumee River at Grand Rapids. Looking toward the part of the dam that connects to the left (north) bank. The water levels and flow rate are both up from the low levels of summer, because of recent heavy rains throughout the watershed.
