People and critters of all shapes, sizes, and ages were out enjoying one of the last mild, sunny days of the season.

arctangent > Now that only canoes and kayaks ply the Gilead Canal, footbridges can cross it without disrupting the flow of commerce.

Providence Park, along the Miami & Erie Canal.
arctangent > No more canal boat rides this season.  The footbridge to Kimble's Landing, and Ludwig Mill in the distance.
arctangent > Time stands still ... or so it seems.

Gilead Canal, looking from the public boat launch ramp toward the Grand Rapids Dam on the Maumee River.  The old towpath runs along the top of the bank on the far side of the canal.  Beyond that a couple hundred feet is the Maumee River.

One of the few trees along the canal that still had most of its leaves on the unseasonably warm day in early November.

Trees on the banks of the towpath (left) tend to lean out over the canal.  Obviously, when the canal was used by larger boats that had to be towed, trees would not have been allowed to grow there.
