Cornus kousa 'satomi', Pink Japanese Dogwood The ID tag on this specimen was barely visible without stepping into a surrounding flower bed, which I was very reluctant to do. It's readable if you zoom in, or perhaps you'll simply take my word that Ive correctly read the binomial name and the name of the hybrid or cultivar (Satomi). D149-2012 Cornus kousa 'Wolf Eyes' Of the shots I took of this tree, this one probably is best for showing the character of the foliage. The leaves have a more 'ruffled' aspect than those of a regular kousa dogwood. They have a darker center, variegated in shades of sage green, and a lighter rim of a cream color that is close to the color of the flower bracts, but is speckled with dark green spots and mottled with regions of pale sage green.
