How can it be bad and look so good? This is crown vetch (Securigera varia), another case of a plant that was imported to the USA for seemingly the best of purposes, but which proceeded to run amok. More unintended consequences of uninformed and ill judged acts.

This legume is native to Africa, Asia, and Europe. It was imported to the USA primarily for use in erosion control and soil rehabilitation. It grows aggressively and displaces native plants. Although it does help prevent soil erosion, it is now considered an unwelcome invasive species in many states. Oh, one other bad feature. It's toxic to horses.
