A bench made from bent iron rod and slabs of stone, granite, or possibly marble.  It seemed to have been varnished or shellacked.  To me it has the look of a designed 'art work' especially in the fanciful curlecued arms and legs, though I don't remember seeing any attribution for a designer or creator.
