Leaves, stems, and keys on this petite Japanese maple are all in shades of pink or red. I find the keys, or samaras, especially attractive. They're small, with the largest not more that 1 inch in 'wingspan', I'd say.

Fall foliage? Look more closely!
Those bright yellow-green things in the upper right are blossoms, and the leaves are newly emerged. With the right light, back-lighting in this case, the Schwedler maple glows in springtime as much as any ornamental Japanese maple.

What would autumn be without 'mums'? Less colorful, certainly.

The filters I applied in post-processing didn't affect the pattern of coloration. That is all natural.
