Neuron 00 Identification Plaque
Roxy Paine (American, b. 1966), stainless steel, 2010
The text on the interpretive sign reads, in part:
"Neuron may look to many as a gleaming root ball nervously elevated by the tendrils of the root. To others it may look like a shining, gargantuan model of the granule cell, the functional unit of nerve tissue. Others may see it as a large abstract shape with a powerful central form reaching out and into space. Each interpretation is worthy, but when combined they illustrate the artist's sculptural vision. A vision that does not replicate any one thing, but creatively suggests many concepts."
