Thank you, Veterans
Humble thanks to all the veterans still living, to their loved ones whose support made their service possible, and to the members of various organizations who support the members of our military services. Deep appreciation to the veterans who have passed away, but whose service we continue to benefit from. I've said it before, but it bears repeating. Service always entails sacrifice. I truly am grateful both for the service and the sacrifice.
A note about the items shown in my poster. They are all items associated with the graves of veterans in local cemeteries. Most are the cast metal plaques attached to the flagpoles next to the graves, the ones that carry the 'for veterans' flags set out by the cemetery workers.. One is an insignia attached directly to a grave stone, and one is from a banner hung next to a grave. Each one is a different design, though some are superficially similar. Some specify a particular conflict (American Civil War, Spanish American War, WW I, WW II, the Korean conflict). Others are for auxiliary organizations (American Legion, DAR, Daughters of 1812, Womens Relief Corps). Still others are more generic (for veterans or for war veterans). Finally a few are for specific branches of the military (Army, Navy)
