Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Day 31
Fact for the day
There are 31 days in October. For my final effort in this month-long project to post something pink-related each day, to go along with ‘facts’, thoughts, hopes about the battle against breast cancer in my captions, I wanted to create a montage with 31 separate images. I selected pieces from some of my earlier posts, as well as some newly created frames, to connect with my final message about the past, present, and future in the battle that women (and men) face. To spare you from having to count to see if I got it right, I can tell you that there are 12 frames in the outer rectangle, 3 sets of 6 in the inner ‘star’, and a final central image of a little girl in a pink jacket. I see her as walking into a hopeful future.
Past – all the millions of women in the past whose treatment for breast cancer, and whose responses to their treatments, provided data that has helped the medical community tailor more targeted, more effective treatments for the next generations of patients.
Present – all the hundreds of millions of people world wide who are each doing their small part to raise awareness, and raise funds for the battle.
Future – a time when little girls can grow up in a world where they don’t have to dread the possibility of developing breast cancer.
A final thought. Breast cancer awareness should be a 365 day a year effort. Cancer never takes a day off. We shouldn’t either.
Thanks to all of you who have offered your warm support for my efforts, but it is really the people who now have breast cancer, or who will develop it in our lifetimes who deserve our support.
