Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Day 17
Fact for the day
Breast cancer patients need support systems in order to get the best possible outcome for their cases. There are the obvious ones of a medical team and a personal team of family and friends. But women especially need help dealing with the changes in their appearance brought about by the treatment. They need the support, both emotional and practical, of others who have gone through what they are going through. They need spiritual guidance, reassurance, prayers, and inspiration.
Today’s image, the branched twigs that once supported a cluster of white berries of a red osier dogwood, represents this multi-pronged support system that every breast cancer patient needs. In case you’re wondering, yes, the twigs really are this bright pink color. You only really notice it once the berries are eaten by birds, or have fallen to the ground.
