Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Day 25
Fact for the day
There are a number of myths about breast cancer (as there are about most diseases).
I was surprised to find these three among those listed in this online source: https://www.nationalbreastcancer.org/breast-cancer-myths/
Myth: Breast cancer is contagious.
Myth: Consuming milk or other dairy products causes breast cancer.
Myth: Antiperspirants and deodorants cause breast cancer.
So, hug a friend, eat some ice cream, and by all means, practice personal hygiene today! None of it will increase your risk of getting breast cancer. 😉
There is a remote connection between today’s photo and the ‘Fact for the day’. Waterlilies do feature in mythology. For example, in ancient Egypt, among other things, the waterlily symbolizes the cycle of life. Read more here if you’re interested: https://gardenerdy.com/what-does-water-lily-symbolize
I hope you’re all making plans to post something pink on Sunday, as per Tina Gardner’s request. If we’re to fill smugmug’s first page on the ‘Popular Home’ dailies, some of us will need to post more than one pink picture. If you don’t have photos of things pink, consider colorizing or color shifting something else, either the whole photo, or some part of one. Add a pink border or frame. Get creative.
