Pictures from the Snæfellsnes Peninsula in western Iceland. The western end of the peninsula is dominated by the iconic Snæfellsjökull volcano, with its massive glacier icecap. Waterfalls pour and tumble from cliff tops throughout the length of the peninsula. Scenes of rocky coasts vie with those of magnificent mountains, all punctuated with isolated farms, hostelries, summer homes, and micro-communities. Bird life is abundant, and easily visible on the countless streams, and ponds that border the main road that traverses the peninsula. Sadly, most of my pictures from this part of the tour were lost in an apparently unrecoverable memory card malfunction.
