Video: Deer Chaser, Japanese Garden
A deer chaser is a form of fountain found in traditional Japanese gardens.
Quoting from the Discovery Guide brochure,
"Deer chaser fountains earned their name because of the loud 'clunk' they make when they tip, intended to scare deer away. Water is an important element in a Japanese garden. ...the deer chaser provides the pleasing sound of running water."
